Rashida Jones, 33, the daughter of Quincy Jones and actress Peggy Lipton, played Karen in the US version of The Office. She has just sold her first script, has a new US TV show – Parks And Recreation – and stars opposite Jason Segel and Paul Rudd in I Love You, Man.

Is Paul Rudd’s character your type?
I’d be very, very happy if I met a man like him. He’s a special man in a lot of ways. He’s got to work on his manliness a little bit, though.

Do you talk about sex with your friends as frankly as your character does in the film?
I do. I’m pretty candid. I grew up with hippie parents and I never felt like I had to hold anything in.

What do you like in men?
Enthusiasm and a malleability. Adaptability. He has to be smart, funny and confident enough in himself to give a lot – to know there’s not ever going to be too much giving

Do you have a boyfriend?
No, I’m single but it’s preferable right now because I’m so busy

Any rules about not dating actors?
Some actors are great but, yes, most actors are, well, actors. And people of course would say that about actresses too. I’m not really a typical actress so if someone had a ‘no actress’ clause I would hope they wouldn’t hold it against me.
